THE UNION SQUARE PARTNERSHIP THANKS OUR 2008 HARVEST IN THE SQUARE SPONSORS AND PARTICIPANTS FOR THEIR GENEROUS SUPPORT!
Click here for the Harvest in the Square event program. Great Food. Great Fun. Great Fundraiser. Everyone Leaves Feeling Great. Forty of the most popular restaurants in the Union Square district served up the feast of the year during the 13th Annual “Harvest in the Square” on the West Plaza of Union Square Park. The event was presented by the Union Square Partnership, and raised over $330,000, with proceeds from the event being directed towards the organization's on-going beautification efforts in Union Square Park. “With new participants and returning favorites, Harvest in the Square has become a highly-anticipated New York City tradition,” said Jennifer Falk, Executive Director of the Union Square Partnership. “There isn’t a more delicious way New Yorker’s can raise money for Union Square Park, one of the city’s most beloved public spaces.” Over 1,000 guests were greeted with upbeat a cappella, and they enjoyed American favorites from Spicerack Live while sampling the cuisine. The event welcomed several new restaurants including Wildwood BBQ, Café Society, Lunetta and Bite, and featured delectable signature dishes from returning favorites, such as SushiSamba, Union Square Café and Todd English’s OLiVES NY. Harvest featured a wide array of mouth watering delicacies, ranging from savory delights - like Barbeque Pork Spare Riblets with Longhorn Cheddar Mac and Cheese from Hill Country, and Devi’s Cabbage and White Bean Dumplings with Coconut-Mint Chutney - to sweet treats like Apple-Lemon Tarts from The City Bakery and Stand’s Marshmallow Shake. Robert Mondavi returned to offer a unique selection of quality wines. After the event, the Union Square Partnership donated over 380 lbs. of food to City Harvest, where it was distributed to community food programs through out New York City. We thank all of our sponsors, partners and guests, and look forward to seeing you next year at Harvest 2009! Check out the post event coverage in Metro and The Villager.
